Juniors to Perform Saturday on WFMT
SHS juniors Kevin Xu and Ari Bakke are part of the Triumvirate Trio, which will perform live on WFMT (98.7 FM) at 11 a.m. Saturday on the “WFMT Introductions” program. The program will be re-broadcast at 10 p.m. Thursday, February 2. The third member of the group is Ariís brother, Torin, an eighth-grader at Twin Grove Junior High School. The trio are part of the Midwest Young Artists program.

Xu, who plays piano in the trio, has been an active member in the Concert and Symphonic Orchestras during his three years at SHS. He also is the harpsichord player in the Stevenson Baroque Ensemble. In May, Xu will be accompanied by the Baroque Ensemble and several area professional baroque wind and brass players in Haydn’s “Harpsichord Concerto.” Ari Bakke, who plays viola in the group, also participates in the Patriot Singers. Torin Bakke plays clarinet.

Girls interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics: CLC is hosting a girls only career exploration workshop on Saturday, February 25, from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. The workshop will feature x-ray energy, lunar exploration, food science, nanotechnology, ecology and more.
